Following the Fair Work Commission’s decision in the National Wage Case on Tuesday 2 June, from the first full pay period commencing on or after Wednesday 1 July 2026, the minimum award rates of pay will increase by 4.75%.
REEF members will be able to download a pdf version of the new minimum Rates of Pay booklet for the Real Estate Industry Award 2020 and the Clerks – Private Sector Award 2020 from REEF HR where you will find them in the REEF Library under the WAGES tab prior to 1 July 2026.
Absorption of ‘above award’ payments
If you are paying an employee a rate of pay which exceeds the new minimum award rate, you are permitted to absorb the increase into the above award payment. However, in order to remain compliant, you must ensure the employee continues to receive a wage equal to or above the minimum wage prescribed by the relevant award for the employee’s classification.
Commission-only employees Members should be aware that the MITA (minimum income threshold amount) for commission-only salespeople will increase to $72,938 commencing 1 July 2026.
